The Missoula Parks and Recreation isn't all about trail maintenance and park upkeep, no not at all. In Missoula, the Parks and Rec is busy keeping you busy with multitudes of outdoor recreational opportunities.
With 45 parks full of trails, picnic spots, baseball diamonds, splash decks and more, one can only begin to image the quality of life in Missoula. With so many recreational options, how does one choose? Pick an interest and get involved with the Missoula Parks and Rec.
Location/Information
Missoula, located along the Rockies in western Montana, is home to a wonderful Parks and Recreation system. The office publishes free recreational guides, printed in April, August, and December, which list all programs, fee, and schedules. This is available at the office, by mail or on the web.
The Missoula Parks and Recreation headquarters can be found in the Currents Aquatic Center, in McDonald Park.

Activities
Outdoor Recreation
Love for the outdoors doesn't sprout from nowhere. Missoula Parks and Recreation want to be the ones to guide and teach kids about the wonders of nature. Some of the many outdoor programs include, a ropes course, outdoor adventure trips, leadership and skill classes, and outdoor therapeutic recreation for at risk youth. Check out the different summer camps available for kids 6 to 14.
Athletic Teams
Looking to get involved in sports. The Missoula Parks and Rec Sport offers basketball, volleyball, tennis, softball, flag football, and soccer for all ages and skill levels. So throw together a team or let parks and rec find a spot for you. There are usually leagues in the spring, summer, and winter, so sign up now!
Aquatics
When the mild summer temperatures start to soar, what's better then a dip in some cold water to cool you down. Missoula Parks and Rec have planned ahead. In addition to the two aquatics centers below, check out the splash decks, think kids playing in permanent sprinklers designed as flowers and bugs, at Bonner, Franklin, Westside and Marilyn Parks.
- Splash Montana
Escape the dry mountain weather with a dip at Splash Montana, an outdoor water park full of fun. Whoosh down the multiple slides, cool off in the current rivers, or just splash away the day in the pool. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, Splash mountain also offers inner tube water polo, full concessions and swim instructions for swimmers of all ages. Call 406-542-WAVE. - Currents Aquatic Center
The Currents Aquatic Center is an indoor water center located in McCormick Park. Open year-round, it features swimming lessons, lap lanes, water aerobics, exercise classes, water slides, a spa and even a party room. Hours vary according to day, so contact Currents for a schedule. 406-721-PARK.
Skate Park
This college town is full of skateboard fanatics. Instead of tearing up downtown benches and rails, locals flock to MoBash Skate Park, a 15,000 sq foot state of the art skating facility. Ranked in the top 5 acclaimed parks by skater magazine, Thrasher. MoBash is centrally and conveniently located across the river from downtown in McCormick Park.
Ice Rink
Grab your stick and hit the ice at Glacier Ice Rink,located in the Western Montana Fairgrounds. Offering hockey leagues for men, women, and children of all ages in both indoor and outdoor settings.
