Get away from it all by taking a horseback trip in Montana. Just outside Missoula you will find all the trails you could want for some perfect journeys into the forests.
You can find plenty of gentle horses to carry you to all parts of this lovely region. You can stop off for some fishing at many of the lakes, or shoot some great photos. Just relaxing is fun, too, and viewing the wild forests and animals that make this their home.
You can ride the Kim Williams Nature Trail for two and a half miles along a system that runs along rivers into Hellgate Canyon. This trail is perfect for small children. For those more experienced, you can veer off on Hellgate Canyon Trail to travel to the top of Mount Sentinel.
Wildlife will thrill young and old. Watch the birds like great blue herons or the osprey. See the black bear and mountain lion roaming the trail. Rattlesnake National Recreation Area and Wilderness is another place to find great trails.
Many other trails can be accessed easily and you should check maps for more wonderful horseback riding trails and bring the family for a great summer experience.
