Overview
Lookout Pass Ski Area boasts over 400 inches of powder a year, the most of any resort in the area. No need for snow making equipment here. 34 named runs offer all levels of skiing and with 540 acres of land, there is also plenty of room for prime powder glade skiing and riding. Three chairlifts, with few lines take you to the top for scenic views. No need to fret about windy conditions, as the natural topography keeps you protected from the wind. Don't miss Lookout's terrain park or the 1,150 ft vertical drop.
Location
Straddling the Idaho and Montana border, Lookout Pass Ski Area is your chance to ski two states in one day. The drive from Missoula couldn't be easier. Take I-90 west to the Montana/Idaho border and exit at the Lookout Pass Ski Area sign.
Or leave the winter driving up to the pros and take the bus to the mountain. Every Saturday after Jan. 8th, round trip buses are available for folks in Missoula and in various cities in Idaho. Prices and pick-up times do vary so check the schedule on Lookout's website.
Unfortunately, Lookout does not offer any of its own lodging. But they have arranged ski and stay packages with different lodgings in the surrounding area. Mullan, ID is the closest city but you will find more options for both food and lodging in Wallace, ID.

Ski free on your birthday! Just bring your license to prove your birth date and you ski for free. What a great gift. Everyone gets hungry after a day of hard skiing. Lookout Pass Ski Area is well prepared for those appetites. The cafeteria offers everything hot, cold, meals or sandwiches, snacks or soup, and even breakfast for your dining pleasure. If your in a hurry, check out the pre-made food options. For a bit more relaxation, order some appetizers and a beer at the bar for some aprés ski celebration.
Lookout offers a recently remodeled rental and repair shop that now boasts an expanded inventory. Whether you are looking to upgrade or simply need some gear, they will be able to hook you up with a full or half day rental.
For those over 55, the 'Prime Timers' club is a great way to meet other ski enthusiasts. Or maybe the 'Downhill Divas' are more your style. Every Thursday, the divas provide skill enhancement training, a fun atmosphere and a chance to mix up your gear at a great price, don't miss the group lunch afterward. For kids just starting out, the 3 rentals, 3 lessons, and 3 lift tickets package for $89 is a steal. In addition to these fun programs, Lookout Pass Ski Area offers typical ski school courses for kids and adults.
