Overview
Lost Trail Ski Area may not be the largest mountain in the area, but it is certainly full of powder and pleasure. Over 300 inches dump on Lost Trail a year and with lifts only open four days a week, powder days tend to be epic. With a 1,800 ft vertical and 45 trails, the mountain offers skiing for all levels. The best part, the price. Lost Trail Ski Area offers skiing the whole family can not only enjoy but afford.
Location
Lost Trail is very easy to reach, located an eighth of a mile off Hwy 93. The scenic drive passes the breathtaking Bitterroot Mountains on your right, while following the contours of the calm Bitterroot River on the left. From Missoula, head south on Hwy 93, past Hamilton, and take a right at the sign for Lost Trail.
The ski area does not offer lodging but they have arranged ski and stay discount lodging packages with many businesses in the surrounding area. You will find lots of cabins and lodges for rent or if you just need a place to rest your head for the night, look at one of the motels or inns.

Mountain Services
Lost Trail offers a lot of services that tend to make your day flow smoothly and efficiently. Hunger tends to strike after a long day on the mountain. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic in the lodge or stop in the kitchen where you will find homemade sandwiches, hot soup, burgers, fries, healthy snacks, and warm drinks. Wash it all down at the end of the day with a microbrew.
The ski and snowboard rental and repair shop isn't just for those who need to rent skis. Scope out new gear, get your skis and boards waxed and tuned, or just chat it up with the knowledgeable staff.
Lost Trail offers lessons for all levels. Beginners can take the 1-2-3 program, which gives you three, one hour progressive lessons, three lift tickets, and three full rentals for the season or ladies check out the ladies only six week course. A little shy around others, a private lesson is waiting for you.
