Kalispell is the Salish tribe word for "flat land above the lake." Seven miles north of Flathead Lake and thirty-one miles south of Glacier National Park, this beautiful city is the hub of the best recreation in Montana. On the western edge of town is Kootenai National Forest. To the east lies Flathead National Forest.
You will never have a lack of anything to do here. There are miles of trails for bikers and hikers, opportunities to do some great horseback riding through the forests and much more. In Kalispell, you will find antique stores with unique items, gift shops and many historical sights to visit. Go on a family outing to pick berries in August and September.
Watch as hunters set off in the fall to hunt deer, moose or elk. You can join them if you wish.
Camping is virtually unlimited and you'll find RV facilities plentiful. You can also choose to rent a cabin or turn in at a quaint Bed & Breakfast. There are many hotels and motels also available.
To get to Kalispell from Missoula, take I-90 west to exit 96 and travel on US-93 for 109 miles. It is just under two hours to get there.
